Play in Tom Clancy’s world in video game sequel

We hope you love these items as much as we did! GateHouse Media may collect a share of sales from links on this page. Author Tom Clancy passed away more than five years ago, but long before that Ubisoft bought the rights to his name and techno-thriller brand of experience. The latest foray into the Clancyverse is also one of the best. “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2” is the ideal video game sequel: It takes a solid first game (“The Division” from 2016) and improves on it in multiple ways while making few if any new mistakes. It’s not perfect, I still think the bosses soak up too much damage when you fight them, but it’s a lot better than the original, and the original was pretty good. The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States in the wake of a bioweapon plague released...

“What Does the World Beyond Jails and Prisons Look Like?”

Detroit Justice Center helps returning citizens navigate the red tape that comes with re-entry and avoid landing back in jail. Roger Stone was just released on a $250,000 personal assurance bond. He does not have to put up one penny. Just to promise to pay that amount if he does not return to court. Meanwhile, my clients are held in jail on $500 bail they cannot afford for stealing a bar of soap. —Rebecca J. Kavanagh @DrRJKavanagh Talking to Damian Black under any other circumstance, you’d have no reason to believe he was only three months out of prison after serving more than 20 years. His smile is infectious. And as he shares his story—including his time and experience in solitary confinement—the smile and the brightness in his eyes overshadow what he’s saying. “...

11-Year-Old Skips Rope 108 Times in 30 Seconds, Sets New World Record

11-year-old Cen Xiaolin can move his legs faster than most people can count. The boy recently set a new rope skipping world record by completing a whopping 108 skips in just 30 seconds! That’s so fast that you can’t even see the rope. In fact, judges at the first World Inter-School Rope Skipping Championships, in Dubai, simply couldn’t keep up with him. They were unable to count Cen’s steps while he was skipping, as it was all a bit of a blur. They had to rewatch the footage in slow-motion eight times to verify the exact number of steps. Later, he broke another record by skipping 548 times in three minutes. Cen said that he learned skipping at his school, Seven Star Primary, located on the outskirts of Guangzhou city in South China. The school started giving teachers and studen...

Are Dreadlocks Black Culture or a Unique Hairstyle For the Entire World?

Can anyone grow dreadlocks or just Black people? Black people's kinky hair leads many to believe they are the only race that grows dreadlocks. Therefore, it's a part of Black culture. But everywhere in the world, you can find people with all types of dreadlocks. Dreadlocks are the natural result of three to six months uncombed hair. Strains of hair intertwine together and create "ropes" or "locs". All types of hair eventually clunk or matte together if left free of combs and hair relaxers for a long time. The texture of the hair determines how long it takes. Thick coarse hair develops or grows dreadlocks fast, easy, and may not need chemicals or twisting. Thin straight hair will take longer. Also, it requires chemicals and twisting. Most Blacks' hair is coarse while other races have s...

The World Order Ruled By Money and Myths

It's almost laughable when considering how easily people are fooled. It doesn't matter how much information is available the majority seem unable to get their heads around reality. That is because they are brain-washed and besotted by myths, most of which come from ancient ideas related to the after-life. Leaders who tortured and murdered and grew in wealth impressed their followers to such an extent that they became gods. It's happening today where some countries are ruled by such 'chiefs'. Kings who order armies into battle are murderers. Presidents who raid and conquer other nations are killers. Leaders who turn their backs on desperate people are likewise responsible for loss of life. Doing their bidding are men and women serving on the basis that it is God's will. This is what th...

What In The World Is An African American Anyway?

By Kevin D. Moore This question was recently asked of me numerous times by White Americans, White Europeans, Black Americans, and others. The funny thing is that I have wondered this too. However, the interesting part about this question is the fact that people are asking it in the first place. When I think about it, something must not be right. I don't recall ever hearing anyone ask what is an Italian American or German American. So why would anyone ask what is an African American? I think the first aspect of my wonderment is that I can't seem to figure out how or when I (a year long tan American) stopped being identified as a Black American and started being identified as an African American. I'm sure someone has the answer. Unfortunately, it is a little fuzzy to me and it seems to...

We Create Our Problems and Our Solutions in Our World

Everyday, we are bombarded with news reports on terrorism, murder, rape, earthquake, accidents, failed marriages, joblessness, business failures, lack of finances, militancy, dead, etc. To most of us, government at various levels should be blamed for creating these problems, or what I love to call challenges. But, who is government? Truth is, government is you and I, whether military or civilian. We voted our civilian leaders into power. For the military leaders, they may have come into power through the barrel of the guns, or by any other means. Therefore, our leaders are supposed to be representing our interests, above their selfish, self-centered interests. In theory, this is fantastic. But in reality, records at the public domain shows that it is not always so. You may agree or...
