Should White People Be Scared To Give Black People Compliments?

The answer is "no." White people should not be scared to give Black people compliments. However, one probably wants to "think before speaking." The reality is that there are many White people that are scared or apprehensive to give a Black person a compliment for fear that they may say the wrong thing. In today's politically correct environment, society as a whole doesn't want to offend others. This is especially true for Whites given the recent backlash felt by some well known Whites who have made comments about Blacks that resulted in a great deal of negative press and counter comments. Two such examples were the comments made by Bill O'Reilly (host of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News) reference Sylvia's Restaurant (Black patroned and owned) in Harlem and Senator Joe Biden's commen...

5 Things That Black and White People Don’t Understand About Each Other

In the next couple of months, we might very well have our first black president here in the U. S. So I feel that black and white people in this country should start working on embracing, or at least respecting, each other's culture. There are a lot of things about white people that many black Americans don't understand and vice versa. Many times we have a negative reaction to things we don't understand. But when we see our fellow Americans of other ethnicities engage in activities that we can't quite relate to, we should respect that and appreciate their differences. Because no matter how much we try to rationalize, there are things that black and white people will never "get" about each other. With that being said, I have compiled a short list of 5 Things that black and white people do...

Rise, Black People

The entire Black race has been forsaken since birth, but we have no one to blame but ourselves, because we allowed it to happened. In fact, everything that has happened to Black individuals, we allowed it to happen, but we can change. We can make life better for ourselves. One of the greatest downfalls of Black individuals is the belief in god. I just can't understand why Black people believe in god, when the non-existent being did, nor does nothing to support or even, at the very least, accept the existence and equality of Black people. For some reason, Black Americans put god first in their lives, ahead of real people that actually exist in their lives, to include family. There is absolutely no proof of god's existence. None the less, Black people worship this non-existent supreme be...

Black People And Our Fascination With Following Dead Leaders

"Why do you seek the living one among the dead?" Luke 24:5 We love to worship the dead. We wait till our good leaders die then we name a street after them and/ or put up a symbolic picture and claim that was my man... I follow him. Meanwhile, the living leader is ignored while we quote the words of a dead leader, marvel over his deeds and wonder what he would do if he was present. We can speculate all day but will never know how they will respond to present conditions. Once the[in the present] ignored living leader is dead we give him his props, put up a picture, name an alley after him and the cycle continues when a new living leader comes among us. While I am speaking of this as an issue within the context of the black community there is evidence of this being a universal phenomen...

Dear White People, You Need More Black Friends

Hey white people, you really need to step your game up and get some more black friends. And by friends, I mean someone who cares enough about you to call you on your shit and vice versa. The black person that you see at the gym sometimes or in a Starbucks line doesn’t count. Y’all ain’t friends, that’s an acquaintance — barely. Source: Dear White People, You Need More Black Friends
