How Do You Gain Customer Trust?

Customer trust and loyalty are pivotal in building a successful business. Establishing a solid long-term relationship with customers can help to scale your business. This is because customer retention is more cost-effective than constant client acquisition. It costs five times as much to earn a new customer than to keep an existing one. Also, a happy customer is more likely to recommend a brand they trust to others. So earning customer trust can help to keep customers and to earn new leads and sales through word of mouth. Here are 4 strategies you can use to earn customer trust. 1. Offer Excellent Customer Service The level of customer service you offer has a direct impact on customer trust and retention. So it's important to have a committed support staff and high standards for speed...

By Giving Money Without Lots Of Obligations Some Funders Are Embracing ‘Trust-Based Philanthropy’

With most foundations, the board of directors and top executives set all funding priorities. Nonprofits seeking money from those funders, in turn, must demonstrate an intention to do work that conforms to those priorities. The same system prevails with many individual wealthy donors. Any nonprofit awarded a grant must follow the funder’s priorities and comply with all of its reporting requirements – which, with some foundations, can be very time-consuming. Funders, rather than the communities they aim to support, hold most of the power in this arrangement. That can steer priorities in the wrong direction because the organizations that deal primarily or exclusively with those issues are probably more aware of what’s going on and what works best. I’m studying the growing number of foundat...

What Do The Polls Say, And Can We Trust Them This Time As The Election Campaign Begins?

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called the federal election for May 21. What do the polls say, and how do we know if they are accurate? There have been five national polls conducted since the March 29 budget. Newspoll gave Labor a 54-46 lead, a one-point gain for the Coalition since mid-March, and Ipsos a 55-45 lead (its first poll since the 2019 election). Morgan gave Labor a 57-43 lead, a 1.5-point gain for Labor since the previous week. Essential’s “2PP+”, which includes undecided voters, gave Labor a 50-45 lead (48-44 two weeks ago). Analyst Kevin Bonham estimated Resolve would be about 55.5-44.5 to Labor from the primary votes, a 1.5-point gain for Labor since mid-February. If these poll results were repeated on election day, Labor would easily win a majority in the House of Repr...

A Cybersecurity Researcher Explains How To Trust Your Instincts – Identify Phishing Emails And Foil The Attacks

Rick Wash, Michigan State University An employee at MacEwan University got an email in 2017 from someone claiming to be a construction contractor asking to change the account number where almost $12 million in payments were sent. A week later the actual contractor called asking when the payment would arrive. The email about the account number change was fake. Instead of going to the contractor, the payments were sent to accounts controlled by criminals. Fake emails that try to get people to do things they wouldn’t normally do, such as send money, run dangerous programs or give out passwords, are known as phishing emails. Cybersecurity experts often blame the people who receive such messages for not noticing that the emails are fake. As a cybersecurity researcher, I’ve found that most pe...

Who Can You Trust and Why?

I always find it interesting to watch politicians who attack their opponents and then, when they drop out of the race because of lack of support, back the person who they have been trashing. It is easy to attack others and make promises when you are hoping that others will vote for you! But the process doesn't always seem to be honourable. It is easy to listen to a charming individual who seems to have a good line but keep in mind the old expression that states: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". To trust means that you have confidence that someone or something is reliable and honest. You can trust the sun to rise each day. But how do you know who you can trust? There are several markers that will help you to decide if you should trust someone: They have a good track ...

Why some Americans don’t trust the census

More than 4 million Americans may not be represented in the upcoming 2020 census. This is a problem, as the once-every-10-year census affects everything from federal funding to political representation to research projects that rely on accurate census data, like the ones my colleagues and I conduct at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The 2020 census is fraught with uncertainty for a variety of reasons, including a lack of money, a growing distrust in government and the months of debate over the now-dropped citizenship question – which the Census Bureau itself called a major barrier to participation. Fears of the census may have informed the Bureau’s 2020 tagline. U.S. Census Bureau More than 4 million Americans may not be represented in the upcoming 2020 census. This is ...
