90% Of Being A Successful Father Is Showing Up
Woody Allen says 90% of success in life is showing up. That's definitely true for being a good father. Your wife delivers the baby, but the ball is in your end of the court, half of the time, after that.
I was terrified when I brought my infant son home from the hospital. I looked at the tiny, six pound, six-ounce, boy and nearly panicked when I realized he was going to be living with me. I didn't know how to feed him, change him, or get him to stop crying. I was afraid to hold him. I was the ultimate newbie dad. I wasn't confident I'd be able to fill a father's shoes.
I was a full-time, financially strapped, married, twenty-year old college student when my son was born. I had no money, and only one way to get any. I worked five part-time jobs during the day and into the night to pay the...

Be The Dad You Wish You Had
In my office are several items that reflect the great joy I find in my family; among them are two special items. One is a little figurine presented to me years ago on Father's Day by one of my children. It bears this message: "World's Greatest Dad."
The second item, a plaque given by another of my children on another Father's Day, reads: "A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you are." This gift brought a timely measure of encouragement, coming the year my oldest son surpassed me in height. (That's when I decided, subconsciously of course, to beat him in girth. And I did.)
These particular paternal possessions are very important to me for a reason I want to share with you here. I know, all too well, that I am not the "world's greatest dad." Still, the hyperbole expressed ...

Could Donald Trump be banned from Twitter?
Could Donald Trump be banned from Twitter?.Speculation over whether Donald Trump will be impeached has been rife since the US president began his term in January. The controversial head of state has historically low poll ratings and has been embroiled in scandals including a fight with the FBI, domestic and foreign policy turmoil, and a war with journalists.
Before impeachment, which requires a two-thirds majority in each house of Congress, Trump could be stripped of access to his second most important platform after the White House: Twitter.
Trump is in danger of being blocked from the 140-character social network, his communication method of choice, after posting a video clip that depicts him body slamming and punching a man with a CNN logo on his face.
The video, which originated on R...

Should White People Be Scared To Give Black People Compliments?
The answer is "no." White people should not be scared to give Black people compliments. However, one probably wants to "think before speaking."
The reality is that there are many White people that are scared or apprehensive to give a Black person a compliment for fear that they may say the wrong thing. In today's politically correct environment, society as a whole doesn't want to offend others. This is especially true for Whites given the recent backlash felt by some well known Whites who have made comments about Blacks that resulted in a great deal of negative press and counter comments.
Two such examples were the comments made by Bill O'Reilly (host of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News) reference Sylvia's Restaurant (Black patroned and owned) in Harlem and Senator Joe Biden's comments ...

Dylann Roof and Michael Slager Both to Face Trial In Charleston In Coming Week
Within next seven days, Charleston, SC will simultaneously host two high-profile trials of white men who killed black people. The trials, especially that concerning a police shooting, could strain the historically sleepy sea-side city, which resisted violence in the aftermath of both events. The more controversial trial is that of Michael Slager, a former North Charleston police officer who is charged with the murder of William Scott. Scott fled from Slager during a routine traffic stop; Slager was captured on a cell phone camera, shooting Scott in the back five times, from a distance of twenty feet. Slager has claimed self-defense, saying Scott had tried to grab his taser. (Slager is white, and Scott was black.) Jury selection begins on Monday, Oct. 31.Recent court filings show that the pr...
