One has only to look at the degree of hate in the country to understand that a civil war is imminent. It won’t go away either because racial intolerance has too much support from high places. As the nation faces problems on many fronts the last thing it can afford is for an eruption of this nature at home. With most armed to the teeth with deadly weapons once it starts there will be no stopping it until the country is torn to shreds.
Is this the price of democracy or something else – slavery? The most persecuted are those who have served America as forced labour in one form or another. Their sweat and tears built the country into what it has become today. Now those who see themselves as better are hell-bent on proving their superiority by ridding their regions of those to whom they owe so much.
The last Civil War was about freeing the slaves while the next one may be about massacring them. The last one started from the North while the next is likely to start in the South. This time it’s not only the blacks that have gotten up the noses of the whites but others who have arrived for sanctuary. They include Latinos, Muslims, and others.
While the Statue of Liberty has words inscribed about the country taking in all who are in need of sanctuary the attitude of many is exactly the opposite. Politicians can’t solve hate by laws and decrees and the people can’t bury it when so much of their lives is absorbed by it.
The unlawful killing of blacks and others by the police may have lit the fuse and the bomb will explode when the White Supremists, neo-Nazis, and Ku Klux Klan hit back hard. Charlottesville is just a taste of what is likely to follow. It lined up the players and the action is on its way.
While the threat of war with North Korea is looming larger than ever this week could the threat of a Civil War take the heat out of it. That remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however, the racial tensions in the USA is reaching fever pitch and something has to give.
