Some Limits Set By States And Universities May Still Be Unconstitutional – But March Madness Stars Can Now Cash In On Endorsements

March Madness is proving lucrative for some of its Cinderella stories and standout stars, thanks to a 2021 Supreme Court ruling that led the NCAA to end its longstanding ban on student athletes earning money from endorsement deals. Doug “Dougie Buckets” Edert, who led the Saint Peter’s Peacocks to their first ever Sweet 16 appearance on March 25, 2022, has already signed deals with Buffalo Wild Wings and sports site Barstool. Drew Timme, the mustachioed star forward at Gonzaga, agreed to use his whiskers to sell razors for Dollar Shave Club. And Deja Kelly, a star sophomore at the University of North Carolina, became one of Dunkin’s’ first college endorsements in February when she agreed to promote the brand’s doughnuts and coffee. But the Supreme Court ruling doesn’t mean anything goes....

Women and supporters across the US march against Trump amid government shutdown and controversy within the movement. Sherry Cain, a 78-year-old Kentucky native, said she's lived a long time and has seen a lot of change in the world, "but never anything like this in our country". That's why she brought her family to Washington, DC on Saturday for the third annual Women's March. "I am just so fearful for their future if continue on this road," she told Al Jazeera, pointing to the government shutdown, US President Donald Trump's immigration policies and what she called the "abdication of Congress of their duties". "We have to do something," she said. Four generations of the Cain family - Sherry, her daughter, granddaughter and great grandson - joined thousands of women and their supporters ...

The Radical Possibility of the Women’s March

On Saturday, a constellation of woman-centered, anti-Trump protest lit up across all seven continents. (A group on an expedition ship in Antarctica adopted the unofficial slogan “Penguins for Peace.”) At the center of the action was the Women’s March on Washington, which drew an estimated half a million participants. There were men and women of all origins and orientations, a teeming parade of pink hats and protest signs that brightened against a pale silver fog blanketing the sky. There were sensible moms and crust punks, bros in Patagonia and toddlers on shoulders. A group of Gen Xers from Pittsburgh kept yelling, “Go Steelers!” A great-grandmother leaned on a walker, ambling gamely down the National Mall with clouds of cotton in her ears.
